Donna Marini and CCS-Orlando have created a new exit strategy for people with spinal cord injuries after hospital discharge. Their combined mission is to help people with spinal cord injuries achieve the highest level of personal independence possible - thus breaking the cycle of dependency on family members or nursing homes for survival.
Ensuring that everyone has the financial means to access the services at CCS-Orlando is the mission of the Donna Marini Foundation. Most insurance will not cover care at a transitional living facility, and a great many people who suffer spinal cord injuries are simply young and uninsured. The Donna Marini Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that raises funds and provides grants on a continual basis to needy indivuduals so they may receive services at CCS-Orlando. The DMF helps to ensure that not a single person in need will ever be turned away from CCS-Orlando due to the limitations of insurance or their inability to pay for services.
